Black across the Sun II
2015 A second attempt to capture the dislocated, otherworldly atmosphere of a total solar eclipse, when an eerie wind blows, the temperature drops, birds stop singing and there is complete darkness for two minutes. The design was developed from sketchbook work using circles and a coastal theme, and song words by Steven Wilson. This time exploring a square format, giving the opportunity to experiment with large scale monoprint. Materials: Hand dyed and printed cotton sateen and poplin. Method: Fabric hand-dyed, painted and printed with procion dyes and discharge paste. Simple piecing. Hand and machine quilting. Size: 92cm x 102cm Juried into Wide Horizons VI, a SAQA Europe and Middle East touring exhibition 2018 Copyright © Terry Donaldson 2015. All rights reserved. |
