Black Across the Sun2014
An attempt to capture the dislocated, otherworldly atmosphere of a total solar eclipse, when an eerie wind blows, the temperature drops, birds stop singing and there is complete darkness for two minutes. The design was developed from sketchbook work using circles and a coastal theme, and song words by Steven Wilson. Selected for Contemporary Quilt's Dislocation exhibition 2014. Materials: Hand dyed and printed cotton sateen and poplin. Method: Fabric hand-dyed, painted and printed with procion dyes and discharge paste. Simple piecing. Hand and machine quilting. Size: 50cm x 120cm |
