The Final Straw

Q. Why would you stitch all that plastic onto a perfectly good quilt?
A. Why would we throw it into the sea?
Walking on the ammonite pavement at Lyme Regis reflecting on plastic waste (now finally front-page news) and the amount of damage humankind has done to the planet in the relatively brief time we’ve been here.
Materials: Cotton fabric, procion dye, fabric paint, plastic straws

Methods: 
hand dyed fabric discharge-printed with original Thermofax designs and found objects; simple piecing; machine quilting
